The Official SRM IST GPA Formula

Academic Regulation Rule

GPA = Sum(Grade Points x Credits) / Sum(Credits)

SRM IST follows a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). To calculate your GPA, you must multiply the grade points associated with each letter grade (e.g., O = 10, A+ = 9) by the credit hours of that subject. The total sum is then divided by the total credits attempted in that semester.

Example Calculation

Mathematics (3 credits) - Grade O (10 points): 3 x 10 = 30

Physics (3 credits) - Grade A+ (9 points): 3 x 9 = 27

Programming (4 credits) - Grade A (8 points): 4 x 8 = 32

GPA = (30 + 27 + 32) / (3 + 3 + 4) = 89 / 10 = 8.9
